In Case You Missed It

NBC’s Revolution has been picked up for a full season. That means filming will continue in Wilmington. This is wonderful news!

TheaterNow is hosting a “Friday Food & Fright Night” at their new facility. It runs from now through November 2 and features ghoulish themed food, like Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie & Linda Blair's Truffled Pea Purée. The performance follows three college students as they spend the night in an abandoned house and includes ghosts stories from Wilmington. TheaterNow is home to a non-profit organization that provides theater training to school-aged kids. Learn more at their web site.

The New Hanover County Planning Board is considering approving a special use permit for a 200 foot tall cell tower that could be built just off Market Street near Big Lots in Ogden. Local residents fear the effects the cell tower will have on their community and health. The building of it could lower property values if buyers deem it an eye sore. There will be a public hearing Thursday, October 4th (tomorrow), at the old county courthouse at 3rd Street and Princess. The county invites the public to come and voice their concerns.

Coming Up

Wilmington Riverfest is downtown this weekend, October 5th through 7th. If you aren’t familiar with the festival, many people call it a scaled down Azalea Festival. There are a LOT of activities scheduled, so make sure you check out their web site. There are rides, races, games, live music, vendors, and more! Step out and support our local businesses.

Also, if you’re planning a month of fun Halloween activities, the StarNews has a nice list to choose from. Check it out on The WAE blog.
